The Department of Rapid Transit Systems (DORTS) has awarded a contract to Kung Sing Engineering Corporation (KSECO) for the construction of the Neihu Line rapid transit system. As prime sub-contractor to KSECO, Bombardier Transportation is providing all of the electrical and mechanical systems, including 202 vehicles, for the Neihu Line – an extension of the existing Muzha line.
Bombardier Transportation is responsible for the design, supply and installation of the following system elements:
- 202 rapid transit vehicles and onboard ATC and communications retrofit of 102 existing rapid transit vehicles
- Bombardier CITYFLO 650 automatic train control for the entire system
- communications system
- power supply and distribution system
- platform screen doors
- workshop equipment
- project management
- systems engineering and integration
- testing and commissioning
- system training and operations & maintenance manuals
- support for Operations and Maintenance Planning
The advantages of the Bombardier CITYFLO 650 automatic train control technology
Fulfills the unique requirements of a communication-based system in a transit environment, such as:
- safety-verified automatic train control design
- reliable radio communications
- full operational redundant configuration
- industry standard interfaces
- robust design for transit environment
- distributed system architecture
- low life cycle costs
- easily overlaid onto "brownfield" systems with minimal service disruption
Uses checked redundancy with high reliability to maintain or improve safety compared to traditional train control equipment.
Eliminates wayside equipment due to its simple, reliable contactless train-to-wayside communications system, yet is inexpensive to install.
Permits shorter, more consistent headways and improves system performance while offering passengers more convenient, reliable and safe service.
